Grammar Section: Agreement Review
  • Choose the correct verb/pronoun to complete the sentences:
  1. Ben or his children ------------ a new car. (want, wants)
  2. The dogs or cat ------------ everything in the house. (eat, eats)
  3. Joe and Benjamin invited me to ----------- party. (which pronoun?)
  4. Joe or Benjamin invited me to ------------- party. (which pronoun?)
  • What is wrong with each sentence? Explain each problem and fix each problem.
  1. The people wants more food.
  2. The three girls asks for three drinks.
  3. My mother and her friend talk about her problems.
  4. Sam asks Jim for his money.
  5. I asked them for their answer, but they wouldn't cooperate.

Reading Section: "Horrible Images of Death in Haiti"


  • The following can be broken up, they don't all have to happen one after another.

  • Before beginning to read, explain why we are doing this. Why mark the text? How will this reading activity benefit student learning and their reading comprehension?
  • Reading 1:
    • Give students 10 minutes to read the selection. This time, they are only reading--nothing else.
  • Reading 2:
    • While reading "Horrible Images of Death in Haiti" circle names of sources and underline what the sources say.
    • Give students 12 minutes to read the article and mark the text SILENTLY.
    • Use your scanned vocabulary to help you understand.
  • Reading 3:
    • Have students chart the text.
    • Students need to be able to explain what the paragraph SAYS and what the paragraph DOES.
  • Reading 4:
    • Making connections:

Reading Section: Elements of Drama Review
  • In order to prepare for the quiz, work in groups of 3 to 4 to find examples from the play of:
    • Oxymoron
    • Foreshadowing
    • Internal Conflict
    • External Conflict

    • Metaphor
    • Simile


  • Your quiz will also have a question on:
    • Irony
    • Foil


Reading Section: Romeo and Juliet, Act 3, scene 2 and 3 (scene 3 if time permits)
  • Read along with the CD.
  • Watch/read along with video.

  • Stop after each scene to give students time to do their scene summaries.




Computer Lab:
  • Take quizzes.

  • Add to your web page.
  • Begin/complete Vocabulary Packet (homework)
